Projects Overview

Sheffield Location Map

Sheffield has assembled a globally significant portfolio of 100% owned mineral sands projects, all located in the state of Western Australia. Sheffield also has exploration projects in other commodities.

The mineral sands projects are the Company’s principal focus and comprise:

  • The large, high grade, zircon-rich Thunderbird project located near Derby in the Canning Basin,
  • The Eneabba project, located near Geraldton in WA’s Mid-west region, and
  • The large scale McCalls chloride ilmenite project, located 110km north of Perth.

The exciting Thunderbird project is Sheffield’s flagship project due to its large scale, high grade, high in-situ zircon content and its ability to produce premium products which could displace lower quality products in the market. In July 2016, the Company announced an updated Mineral Resource for the Thunderbird deposit of 3.23 billion tonnes @ 6.9% HM (Measured, Indicated and Inferred), including a minable higher grade component of 1.05 million tonnes @ 11.9% HM (Measured, Indicated and Inferred) with very high in-situ zircon (0.93%) and ilmenite (3.3%) grades. These grades, its size, and surface outcropping nature place Thunderbird in the top tier of HMS deposits globally.

The Eneabba Project has combined mineral resources totalling 4.5Mt of contained heavy mineral with combined measured, indicated and inferred resources totalling 172 million tonnes @ 3.0% HM across five deposits. The McCalls project contains 53Mt of heavy mineral, in an Inferred Resource of 4.4 billion tonnes @ 1.2% HM. McCalls contains over 40Mt of chloride ilmenite grading 59-66% TiO2 and is a longer term strategic asset.

Sheffield also has exposure to the Fraser Range nickel province through a joint venture with Independence Group (IGO), whereby IGO will farm in to five of Sheffield’s Fraser Range tenements.
