Sheffield’s Dampier mineral sands project is located midway between the towns of Derby and Broomein the Canning Basin region of Western Australia.
The project comprises a large, contiguous group of 100% owned tenements that Sheffield has compiled as a result of its “first mover” advantage in the region.
In 2012, Sheffield’s first drilling program on the Dampier project outlined a large, high grade mineral sands deposit called Thunderbird. Subsequent work has shown that Thunderbird has the potential to become a globally significant mineral sands mining and processing operation.
Thunderbird is the first major mineral sands discovery in the Canning Basin which is emerging as an important new mineral sands province. Sheffield has barely scratched the surface with its exploration so far, but has already identified several new prospects, including the Night Train prospect, located 20km to the south of Thunderbird.
